pumpkin spice.

Lately I've found myself loving to take on projects and make cool stuff. I'm also in the process (still) of redecorating my room. I needed a night stand like a CEO needs a drink on Friday afternoon. That was probably a bad reference but whatever, you get it. So instead of trying to find one to match the wood color of my shelving unit, I decided to look for a thrifted night stand and repaint it. My mom found this little gem in a store that sells liquidated furniture for about $55. It took me a while to decide on a paint color but the one I committed to is called Pumpkin Spice. Yummy huh? I got the knobs half off at Hobby Lobby for about 5 bones. Three coats of paint and a couple days later, and I have a new friend in my room.

So there's that. I'm pretty proud of it. Now on to the search for a lamp...

One more tid bit for today...I got a bunch of coupons (thanks a ton, CVS) and an employee discount so that I could practically get this eye liner for free. It's Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Liner and retails for about $11. I bought it in Blackest Black and let me tell you about how much I love it. Well, I love it a lot. It goes on really smoothly and doesn't smear. Oh it's wonderful. Get it.
It's definitely different than the liquid eye liner I purchased a few weeks ago because it comes in a little pot but I like it a lot better. Easier application and looks very smooth. Ugh I just can't stop babbling about how awesome it is.
PS. It's also available in other colors like Brown and Charcoal.

PPS. School starts on Monday. On to the search for a cool first day outfit. Wish me luck.

you'll shoot your eye out.

I'm going to be honest and tell you that my Christmas wasn't wonderful. It had it's ups and downs. Unlike the past few tradition-building years, this year, I did not make a gingerbread house, bake a birthday cake for Jesus, watch 24 straight hours of A Christmas Story, or even stay at my own home. So there's that. I did, however, play in the snow! But before we get to my Christmasing adventure to good ole Phil Campbell, Alabama, let me share with you a night we like to call Sapphire Ball.
My purple dress and awesome accessories from Charming Charlie that I shared with you earlier turned out pretty sweet. If I had to do it over again, I would not have tried the new part. I like my part by my ear, as my hairdresser says.

Dress-Belk
All Accessories - Charming Charlie
Sweet glow-in-the-dark glasses - Claire's
Boy - William Chronister Takewell aka one of my favorite people since circa 1996

After formal, we moseyed on over to one of our favorite places in Hammond, America...Asterisk NightClub. I hear people come from all over the land to attend this sweet party. I don't blame them. Have you seen the bouncers? Anyway, this outfit was the result of grabbing random things from my closet. Shorts in December? Never ask yourself "Why?" Always ask "Why not?"

Sweater & Belt - Old Navy
Top, Shorts, Tights, and Flats - Target
Same accessories, same boy.
You'll come to notice that I shop really inexpensively. Call me cheap. It's fine.

Let's move on to bigger and better things, shall we? On my first full day in Alabama, we visited a creek turned lake via a dam. A lot of the water was let out so the water was really low. In case you're not a fisherman, extra low water makes it hard to put your boat back on it's trailer so daddy helped the poor lonely man who was clearly having a difficult time doing so. Meanwhile, mom and I had a photo shoot.

Even though I was a little upset that I wasn't wearing a cool outfit for said photo shoot, I guess my regular day-to-day college kid dougie of TOMS, a sweatshirt and jeans is really how I live. Love me for who I am, okay? In leu of such a typical outfit, I thought I'd share with you a few items without which I could not survive a regular day.

Well so there's that. Hope you enjoyed a sneak peak into my overnight bag. Next on the agenda, Christmas Day. I woke up to my aunt's yapping poodles and her baby voice saying "Bear, look! Go get that snowflake! That's your snowflake!" This statement made me question the weather for obvious reasons so when I looked out the window, and sure enough. Snow. And lots of it. It was really pretty but it made me thankful that I live in south Louisiana.

Instead of cooking a regular Christmas lunch, my family and I had reservations at the Marriott (we fancy, huh?) so I decided to get myself together and wear real clothes. Two things I regret about these pictures: no accessories (somehow, I forgot my jewelry bag at home) and no lips (lipstain slipped my mind with all the ruckus of the snow). You might be saying, "Kristin, weren't you cold with no coat?" My answer is no. It's not as humid "up north" so even though it was snowing, it didn't feel as cold.

Sweater - Target
Top - Rue 21
Jeans - Old Navy
Boots - uuuhhh ???

Hope your Christmas was as wonderful as mine :)
P.S. Santa brought something I think you'll be really excited about!

cran session.

I had nothing to do today so I looked up a recipe for holiday foodsies via my Pillsbury account. Yeah that's right. I'm domestic. I found something delicious... Cranberry Layer Bars. So I got myself together and went to Wal-Mart to get all the needed ingredients as well as some liquid eye liner (but we'll get to that later).

These are all the ingredients. Pretty simple. But here are some side notes: A. I LOVE buying a single piece of fruit. Why does the world expect me to buy more than one at a time? Unnecessary. B. I bought mini chocolate chips because it was either that or 24 ounces. I only needed 6. C. I have never seen fresh cranberries or at least I don't remember. They're weird.

This is what it looks like all put together. Yummy huh?! This was taken before they went in the oven. It looks the same coming out. Be warned: these little nuggets require a lot of patience because they have to cool forrreevvverrr before you can cut them.

Although this may just look like a mess, I promise it's squares. They were so delicious! It's a different, interesting flavor with the orange and cranberries, but you just definitely try them. :)

So on to the good stuff. As I said, I bought CoverGirl liquid eyeliner today out of desperate need for a wing tipped eye. I liked this one because it works like a paint pen as opposed to dipping an applicator.

I would be a liar if I said I didn't want to do this because of Lauren Conrad and Taylor Swift. I mean check out how cool it looks on them...

Annnddd here it is on my very own eyeballs. See on Saturday, liquid eyeliner.

if only i were an octopus.

I want to be an octopus. Then I could wear as many watches as I wanted to. Here are a few I love and want in my stocking. ((wishful thinking))

She's a Betsey Johnson. I love her so much. If you've never met an accessory of any kind by Miss Johnson, you need to acquaint yourself. She makes the cuh-raziest things. Her watched are pretty mild-mannered and not through the roof when it comes to price. You also may come to notice I'm on a purple craze right now. So here she is...maybe one day she will be mine. (P.S. LeeAnn is one of my favorite people and also the reason why I met Betsey. I also promised her last night that she would be on my blog one day. Hold me to it.)

This cool kid has been on my mind and my wish list for months now. You can never have a bad day with Michael Kors on your arm. My original inspiration to own a Michael was from my sweet sister and friend Collette. (Be sure to have me introduce you.) However, since I fell in love, I've come to realize that I know a few girls that already own this exact watch and if I'm gonna drop a couple stacks, I would hate to be a repeat...

Which brings me to HER. I lose the amazing tortoise shell, but I would save a few dollars (like a hundred) and still have the magic of Michael on my arm. So I'm on the fence. Good thing I don't have to pick today, or in the next week for that matter, since I'm on a diet of buying things in order to not be poor. Holla at a college kid's checking account!!

how charming.

Today Connie and I went shopping to buy accessories and such for our formal this coming Saturday. Connie introduced me to my new best friend, Charming Charlie.  If you've never been, it's basically a crack house for accessory addicts, such as myself. So many cool things at reasonable prices. Just wanted to share with you the cool things I bought.

P.S. I had already bought shoes for formal but I have a hard time turning down anything with a bow, especially when it's half off. Yes, you heard me. I paid only twenty bones for those gems.

P.P.S. I will also be wearing a ring I already own. Please don't think I find naked fingers acceptable.

here's my intro.

That's me. In the middle. Don't judge us for this picture. It's totally normal. In fact, it's the universal sign of our imaginary sorority, Chi Chi Chi, or in Greek letters, XXX. But that's another story for another day.

I guess the best way to give you an overview is a list.
-i make more lists than anyone you know.
-my best friend is connie. (in the yellow)
-i love watching bloody shows.
-i'm gonna be a teacher when i grow up. i guess.
-it's fun to get dressed.
-i hate touching toilet paper except for it's primary use.
-cuddling is my favorite hobby. don't get comfy if you don't want me to join.
-i love justin bieber, chelsea handler, britney spears and nicki minaj. judge me.
-i'm long winded.
-i have alter egos. (grandma, baljeet, and devil to name a few)
-my nephew is cooler than all your friends combined.
-i love boys with beards, trucks, and a heart for jesus. give me one.

My plans for this blog are not to bore you with the complaints of my almost perfect life, but more to focus on a single love affair of mine....clothes, shoes, accessories and the like. maybe one day i will be cool enough to feature pictures of my super stylish outfits, but for now, i'm gonna show off some things i would love to own.

enjoy friends.
